Four in a bed

Post by Tournesol »

I have watched a few of these and am horrified at some of the lengths people go to to find fault. and I wondered whether B & Bs generally are suffering adverse effects from the programme?
It seems to me that most of the properties featured are actually hotels rather than traditional B & Bs.
One guest said scornfully "It's like being in someone's home!" I thought that was what B & B was rather than an impersonal hotel!

watch Bienvenue Chez Nous on French TV - even more critical & low marks - explains a lot & yes everyone is a critic these days

One reason I would never participate in one of those programmes! It seems some of them are really quite nasty but they don’t take the criticism when aimed at them, in return.

Great viewing, though. Slightly guilty pleasure....😀
"It's a funny old world...." but full of the most amazing people. :-) Sense of humour essential!

it's all in the editing....have briefly appeared in both French & UK broadcasts & although it's your words etc, it can come across in a completely different way in final edit. Bienvenue Chez Nous are bombarding me with emails & phone calls at present looking for places in our region.....be warned those in the Charente SWFrance they are getting desperate for participants

No way I would let them into ours! Our guests have been very happy (although some have complained about the signage, having ignored the clear instructions/photos on B.com) but then I don't think they are in the habit of stripping the bed in the hope of finding a hair or getting a magnifying glass to the underside of the toilet bowl! Also, most French people understand that in rural France you will get the occasional insect entering the house and that cobwebs can reappear within an hour of sweeping!

Agree! They phoned us up, too but there's no way I'm going to subject myself to criticism for normal countryside insects... or the cats occasionally wandering by with a 'present'!

For those in the UK; Are not the programmes on Channel 4's website?

Any ideas how we can watch Bienvenue chez vous ? We had a look last night but couldn't find any episodes on the Internet.

Moving on

I can only find one of the DIY series at the moment.
Not related to "the trade" but interesting none the less.

I don't wish to spoilt it but why build a house with those materials after what had happen just a few months before?
