Sunscreen with P20 tunrs sheets red!!!

Post by cleanforum »

Just discovered that some sun creams have a P20 componant. We always use a little bleach to clean our sheets. If the sheets have any of this type of sunscreen the stains turn bright red and will not come out after contact with the bleach. It a chemical reaction it seems.

Bloody nuisance and 15Euro for a new sheet. Anyone else seen this and had any success cleaning them??

You mustn't use bleach. See https://www.p20.co.uk/faqs/ for how to remove.

Poxy stuff stains pool liners as well. The only product we banned guests from using.

As you've discovered bleach turns the stain pink.....but sunlight can bring that out, or soak in vanish, or spray with anti calc spray (which should be what you do when a stain is discovered).

Everyone I used to spray our lounger cushions with bleach (they were white) they'd turn a ridiculous shade of pink, but after an hour in the sun it always faded.

Good luck

Not sure what yo mean by anti calc spray.. Is that a trade name or do you mean anti-cal ??

We have had some success with an Oxi product my wife has and so it looks like they are savable :D

Sorry clean forum. ...I mean anti calcium spray, like viakal. Calc is a local expression.

If you need to know more, and have the time, do a search as there's loads of threads on this including the explanation about why it happens
