OTA = Online Travel Agency, which means those sites that sell the booking and take the payment for you.

We save guest payment details securely and only charge them in the event of damage.

I raised the whole topic of damage deposits on HL/TA in the thread ‘Trip Advisor Damage Deposit Issue’. The whole situation is very confusing/misleading particularly if you were under the impression as a host that HL/TA hold a security deposit for you (they don’t even though they record it in the dashboard that this is what they have done).
