In brief, modern sockets don't need covers and the covers can actually make them more dangerous for toddlers. This definitely applies in the U.K. Not sure about other countries but worth looking into if you leave socket covers in your holiday let like we do - or did until I read this!

Yes I saw this the other day too. I will be removing all my socked covers next time I'm there!
