Flights UK to Europe

Post by Moliere »

I don't know about you guys, but we often get asked about the best way for our guests to fly to the Languedoc. And as they come from all over the place, sensible suggestions are not always local to us!

But I find this site very useful:

http://www.flightmapping.com/maps/Europe/

If you haven't already got it, stick it in your favourites, it's quite helpful if someone wants to fly from a UK regional airport to wherever you are.

Cheers all

Great website Mols. Unfortunately only shows flights to and from UK (e.g. not from US to Europe).

Anyway, here is a fun one with the above site:

From the link above, click on Portugal - only 3 airports.

Then mouse over the Capital city of Lisbon and see a few flights to UK. Hovver over the second major city of Porto, but then put your mouse over the smallest airport of Faro, which effectively only serves beach holiday destinations. Wow !

Yeah, sorry mate, maybe there is something similar featuring the US?

But all our guests so far have come from Europe (90% from UK and Ireland) - however, down in the Algarve, aren't you in the right place?! :D

A bientot!

Nice link - but it is not complete. I found at least two routes which aren't shown.

Sorry Ju - I didn't mean to be flippant - my little site doesn't pretend to be perfect, so if you can add some routes, that would enhance it - to everyone's benefit!

These routes do seem to change almost weekly - in our part of the swamp we're curious about Beziers airport, which next year will be handling international flights for the first time, and as that's only about 10 miles from our place, it has real implications for us in 2008.

So, whatever, I hope people might find it useful, because we can help our guests that little extra mile. :)

Hi

I've been maintaining a list here :

http://www.the-languedoc-page.com/touri ... sm-air.htm

They change frequently, so it needs updating quite often.

BTW, there are some recent Ryanair changes :

The Morocco flights that were originally announced (but postponed due to delayed EU negotiations) will now commence :

Marseille Marrakesh 30 Oct
Marseille Fez 30 Oct

New destinations from Girona will commence :

Girona Basel 31 Oct
Girona Brno 29 Oct
Girona Linz 29 Oct
Girona Poznan 30 Oct

There are some route cancellations :

Girona – Malmo 4 Nov
Marseille – Malmo 27 Oct

It's a great site Mols. I've only just realised that you actually built it - you clever old thing!

But one thing puzzled me. The site shows flights from Norwich to Faro (and I know that's the case) but when I drill down further to the Norwich airport page, I can't find any info about actual flights to Faro.

I'm sorry I didn't realise you built it either - fantastic.

The routes which I found missing are

La rochelle to Manchester - flybe
Lorient to Galway

Interestingly the last one is mentioned on a flightmapping page but not on the map.

Whoa, everyone! Where did this idea come from that I built the flight site?

Some mistake there.

(It must have been the proprietory "my" that I stuck in - that was more for discovery and usage than any claim to authorship)

I'm not that clever!

I've linked to it Mols as it's quite useful to see the scale of things too. There's at least one flight listed that doesn't fly any more. Manchester - Angers! Shame as it's good for the Northern crowd to have a stab at getting here with less of a drive at both ends too.

Good find - thanks!
