About 18 months ago the geek blogs were humming with a mixture of indignation and admiration for a Google Research project, which used 'ambient audio' on a user's computer to generate relevant AdWords and content.
In other words, use your computer's inbuilt microphone to listen in to your conversations and, say, TV, to produce AdWord content, rather like Gmail does with our email. i.e. dog barking = Ads for Bonio, baby crying = ads for nappies. But more than that - they could decipher conversation. Just think - family talking about next summer's holiday - blast them with relevant AdWords. Cool.
Does anyone know if this got going?
