Cold calling your punters - give it a whirl?

Using press and magazine advertising, brochures, mailings - old hat or still cost-effective?

Cold calling your punters - give it a whirl?

Post by Mountain Goat »

We very rarely have any 'phone contact with potential punters, except for last minute bookings, but today, amazingly, I tried calling past punters who'd sent us Christmas cards.

Bingo with the first two couples I tried - nice chat about the weather, new stuff we've got in the chalet - and double bookings confirmed for the summer. Special offer? Yup - same rates as last year.

Neither use email at all, so that's something for you guys to think about. Maybe Force Travel & L could run some seminars for us?

Me too, Chianti. I don't think I'll make it a regular thing, but it's got to be worth a go with the right guests.

Maybe we've got to have an angle - same as discussed elsewhere here - new website, new bicycles, car rental deal in the village, new restaurants, follow up specific things they mentioned in the Visitors' Book, thank them for the Christmas card etc.

Good idea, MG .... a good way to try and "close that deal". Particularly if they've taken the trouble to contact you and a phone call will seem much more personal.
