.docx extension on Word files anyone?

The place to discuss anything to do with computers, software, hardware, no matter how basic or technical. We all use this stuff, but we don't always understand it!

.docx extension on Word files anyone?

Post by Mountain Goat »

Could anyone fill me in on these? We've been getting them as important attachments and having to use something like Zamzar.com to convert them.

Is it the latest Microsoft Office version?

A complete pain, as I can see no reason to upgrade whatever we're using (2000 last time I looked).

Office 2007 XML format apparently, and not compatible with older versions. I use it at work and it's pain if I need the document at home (I often work on stuff in my lunch-hour for the apartment).

I have upgraded at home to the new version when I got my new laptop. To be able to read the documents on other PCs you need to make sure that the document is saved as a word 97-2003 document. I have made that mistake a few times.
