Wireless Range Extender

After reading about these things on here, we bought one called AirPlus G. After struggling with it for a couple of weeks, we finally unplugged it as wireless reception without it was better than with. It cost 99 Euros so we really ought to return it to the shop. But is there something we should know/try first?

Have a look at the following: Repeatit 802.11b/g USB Hotspot Booster & Range Extender from http://www.wirelesspro.co.uk We have tried it out in our marina and it does the job very well, bearing in mind wifi hates yacht masts - they play havoc with the signals but this seems to cut right through it.
