Christmas week booked - phew !

Post by Beanie »

Was getting just a tad twitchy as we'd got the NY week booked ages back and subsequently received enquiries for the Christmas AND NY weeks combined but nothing for just the Christmas week.

Was relieved therefore to get it booked up this week by very nice sounding German family who are extremely excited about going out for their Christmas.

Christmas Day and NY Day don't fall well in the week this year, but are even worse next year. Perhaps it's a lesson to us to hold our for the 2-week enquiries rather than just let one week go straight away.

Is anyone else finding this Christmas a bit sticky ? Any thoughts for next year ? We have changed our change-over day this year to a Sunday for the holiday period, which means folk don't have to travel on Boxing Day and 1st Jan and think that's helped. We'll go out later in Jan to get it back to a Saturday as we've got bookings later in the season that run Sat - Sat.

Beanie, we normally block off the calendar for ourselves at Xmas and New Year, although this may be our last one. Our sons are still young enough to want to be with us for Christmas, so come out too. As they are at university it fits in better with term dates. We will stay until the week after NY as it is usually the week we have no bookings for. If I get an enquiry before we have booked our crossings I will alter our plans slightly.
Sometimes we will decide to have xmas lunch at home, and then I will put the dates back on the calendar. It always goes, usually to one of our French neighbours who have family coming.

We have only just taken our last family apartment booking for Christmas and still have the one bed apartments available. Usually we are booked solid for Christmas and New Year by early March so this year is very slow by comparison but early 2009 was definitely 'credit crunch' time. Still have 2 of the one beds available for New Year but am certain they will go before too long.
