B&B for sale SW France

Post by maisondepoitiers »

We have a B&B for sale in SW France - 20 kms from Bergerasc airport, note the reason that we are selling is due to the fact that my husband & I are getting a divorce and he is currently living in Australia. The property has bookings for 2010 and also benefits from rental income from a shop which more than covers the running costs of the Chambres d'hotes.

The asking price is 375k which includes all furniture and fittings, the interior is stunning and has been featured in design magazines and on the internet, around the world.

We also have a bnb for sale in valencia region, spain. Not because it is a failing business, on the contrary, but with ailing parents in the UK we are spending more time there. I love this business and really dont want to give it up but we hope to sell, regroup and in the future do the same again.

thanks, again for everyone´s tips.....beautiful places, though my husband needs a wee bit of grden space and he won´t go to Spain...don´t really know why!!!
so we´re still looking......France sure seems more affordable than Portugal, am amzed at the property prices here even for ruins...
We thought we had done alot of our "homework" before moving here, but I guess, we were being too optimistic!!!

Personally I think you have been lucky in not finding anything in Portugal if your husband dislikes Spain. Although different countries there are many similarities.
Never try to out-stubborn your guests.

Hello Richard, merci beaucoup for your kind compliment. It is sad as a lot of effort went into setting up the Chambres D'hotes but the house also holds memories which does not aid the moving on process.

I am staying in the area as I have another property in a nearby village which I have set up as boutique apartments and also run an online antiques/homeware business so help would be provided should the new owners require any assistance.

We are looking for a couple to run the Chambres D'hotes in the interim, so grateful if you could keep an ear out incase you hear of anyone that maybe interested.

Wishing you a great season with lots of lovely guests.

Hi

We are based in the Herault in the South of France. We live in a small village (non touristy) with 2.5k inhabitants yet there are 3 (YES THREE) B&Bs. We are including ours although we dont do much Most of our business is guest apartments which is why we are still here 10 years when most other B&Bs have been and gone! That and working very hard at marketing.

Most villages around here have at least 1 B&B even ones with no shops, in the middle of nowhere, with no tourist or passing trade! Before buying anything around here (even an established B&B) we would stronger recommend that you ensure that you look closely at the likelihood of making a decent living. Some successful B&Bs are being sold by the owners to cash in on their success (and rightly so) however beware that they wont be taking their clientèle with them.

Herault and most of Languedoc Roussillon has a B&B lake as well as the more publicised wine lake. We would suggest that it is a place to avoid UNLESS you are absolutely sure.

Have you given yours enough time? It is very daunting when you first start. We think that it took about 3 to 4 years to start to be comfortable with everything and to start thinking that maybe we might just be ok. Even now we think about every penny (or euro!) that we spend. Prior to that we thought every day whether we had made the right decision particularly when an unexpected bill dropped through the letter box.

Good luck
