why am I invisible?

Post by barbersdrove »

I've noticed that I am never shown as 'browsing the forum' when I'm on line. :(

I think it only shows three of the online registered users, and focuses on those most recently logged in or most recently having posted?

Paolo might be able to offer more insight?

Go to "Profile" -> "Preferences" and check "Hide your online status". Make sure it's set to "no" if you don't mind the world knowing your browsing habits 8)

Could someone enlighten me please, as to the potential 'problem(s)' posed by allowing others to know when you are posting on the forum ?

I don't personally have a Facebook account because of my concerns (amongst other things) about security of my personal data and I don't want others to be able to find out too much about my daily habits, but are we not being a little bit paranoid by hiding the fact that we are 'online' here.... and in any case - when you post on a thread, people can see youre online anyway.

I totally respect an individuals chioce in this matter, so I am in no way 'judging' anyone, I just wondered what the reasoning behind it was !

Ray, it could be that you do not want anyone to know that you don't have a life and you are browsing the Forum 20 times a day.

Mind you they would have to be checking who is online 20 times a day themselves to know that
