Possible Scam Alert from mary_smith292002@yahoo.com

Post by Marc »

Dear all

After an initial enquiry via the French Connections website I had the following email from Mary Smith from the address of mary_smith292002@yahoo.com. I am sure this is a scam so beware.

> Hi,

> totalling 3000euro.
> So you will be requested to send the excess to me after deducting the
> money for the apartment.
> In view of the above, I will need your full name and address and phone
> number so that the check can be issued to you without delay.

Imaginative name that they used - wouldn't cause you any suspicion at all! Quite a generous allowance for food etc. I wonder how many people that they take in?

Off-topic, our local paper reports a burglar who sent invitations to house owners for ficticious crime prevention meetings at the local police station to make sure that they were out when he came to call. I know we shouldn't, but Jane and I both had a sneaking regard for his enterprise - if only he used it legally!
