Mine is no longer down, (is it?) but all were down this morning. Paul from PMP emailed me to say there was a server problem which lasted about 15 minutes.

OK should be fine now. My profile link was to a page on my old website.

Thanks Ed for posting about PMP. Not sure why I was hesitating, and now delighted with new updated website. I particularly like the instant translation aspect.

No more fighting with Front Page and html which I never really understood.

Thanks also to Helen for posting the special offer code.

Just like to mention another plus with PMP...

PMP websites look good on mobiles - something that was on the list to investigate for our old website. The text fits the width of the mobile screen and reflows when you zoom in, and the availability calendar is viewable (this doesn't happen with IOwners sites, unfortunately.) Loads quickly too.

I hadn't checked myself, but that's good to know. So many people are using their mobile phones to access the internet these days.

new promotional code PromoteMyPLace

Post by jaapspreeuwenberg »

Hi all,

After reading on the LayMyHat forum about PromoteMyPlace I decided to try it out and am very enthusiastic. The discount coupon code posted here before was expired, so I sent an email to their costumer service. They gave me a new one, free to spread on this forum, too.
It gives a GBP 20 discount.

PMP401

Kind regards,

Jaap

oooh, that sounds worth a try.

I also currently use iowners but there are a few things I don't like about them - the photo gallery widget always looks fuzzy to me and worse, on certain browsers the template colours come up differently rendering my text unreadable.

Two different people alerted me to that...

I'm also not ever so keen on their available templates.

thanks for the tip.

PromoteMyPlace have recently added a new template and apparently there's more to come. I'm happy with the one i've got, but the new one looks great too. Thought it might interest those of you who are thinking about using their service.

Ed I agree, I'm toying with changing to the new template.

How do you use your own domain name with PMP? I don't want a .promotemyplace.com suffix. I'd rather have a .co.uk

You just change the nameservers to the Promote my Place ones. They'll guide you through it if you need any help.

Helen, I'm a bit thick on this stuff - what does that actually mean?

Put simply, your domain needs a somewhere to stay (a host), in order for it to show up on the internet, it needs to 'point' to the hosts servers.
