The Census

Post by shamac »

Does anyone know how this will work, census website is a bit unclear. I have 6 people in my house on census day, form has room for 3 details and says I should request an extra form for extra people. Do these people also complete their own forms at home? What if they don't complete the ones I leave for them? Do I fill them in on their behalf?

I'm glad you asked this question first Shamac! I have two onsite cottages - I don't know whether they count as part of my household.

The Census website only has information relating to hotels and B&B.
If you want to find me, Google The Barton Poughill!

It has been sometime since I lived in the UK but when I did you could contact the local (returns?) officer with your questions. Does that system not exist now we have this interweb thing?

Even the phone line is one of those dreadful automated things and the website very basic.

I'm with you in the ostrich vane, however the £1000 fine has me a bit worried!

Damn - missed that bit. I was going to ignore it on principle as it's asking for more information than they need (what difference does it make who I used to work for - they went down the pan anyway!) and because there still isn't an option under "Religion" for Jedi.

Anyway, if Mr and Mrs Smith of Surbiton state on their form that they were away staying at Cozeenook Caravan in a field in Chipping Norton, I struggle to believe that the census mob are then going to check if the owner of Cozeenook Caravan (and presumably the field) put Mr and Mrs Smith on their form. If they are, there's certainly not going to be any excuse for being unemployed........

Keen campers will - there is a campsite near me and there were quite a few caravans and tents pitched there when I went past last week. The climate here isn't that much better than the UK...

I am intending to list myself as IPU - Jedi is so 20th century GB :-)

I bet at least one family will have completed theirs as soon as they received it and sent it back. Or they'll have completed it online in advance - form-filling online is not embargoed until the 27th, it's available now.

You'll need to have an answer ready to cover that eventuality.
