Hi, folks. First posting as you see. I take it I'm welcome :)

I just received the following and some of the details made me suspicious so I googled the name 'Hillary Wetwoods' and - what do you know - She's been at it before. I had already replied with some basic info. I'll keep you posted on the outcome. It's a new approach so far as I'm concerned. I've had other junk but it's usually somebody trying to pay me with a cheque much larger than the rental I'm charging but (by the way), they'd like me to send them a few quid first!!!

Well, this guy's cleverer than most - 'magic holding' seems to be a real estate term, or came up as such in a search, and there is a company called the Allen Group which is also to do with real estate - but which has no offices in the UK.

Might be fun to see if his mobile phone number works.

But the use of language is another cause for suspicion - it isn't quite perfect.

Why not reply, and see what he suggests you do next?!!

Hi CC,
I don't have time to play with my scammers unfortunately, so this one would be click, delete, straight in the trash. As Paolo has said repeatedly, nobody starts off an inquiry by saying, "My name is....."

They're getting quite smart. I've had 3 recently that started with 'Hi! Re your advertisement. Please see attached.'

or 'Re your inquiry'

or 'Hi! Do you have a map?'

I do have a general rule not to open unsolicited mail, but when one is renting out property it's very tempting to think that these are genuine inquiries, but in each case they are adverts for viagra.

Has anyone else come across these?

Yes, I know there are several jokes in here but i decided to leave them to the experts! It did occur to me that if you needed a map things were in a very bad way indeed, and would viagra even be sufficient or too little too late?

But I decided not to say it.
