Who is up for a bet?

OTA = Online Travel Agency, which means those sites that sell the booking and take the payment for you.

How could it possibly last that long? It's absolutely awful.

I bet most people didn't think the million dollar home page had a ghost of a chance either (see BBC story here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/4585026.stm)

I think this could work - by which I mean, the link you can buy from it to your site for £5 a year may become worth it.

Paolo,

My bet still stands, If you pay for your link on this site, and it's still going after a year, I will refund you for your link( max a fiver). If it goes down before, or on the 17th February 2007 you pay me a fiver, which I will give to charity

It costs nothing to keep a site like that on a server so why would they take it down?

For a tenner for 2 years I think I'd chance my arm! I'll organise it when I'm back from my internetless (new word!) cottage and take up your challenge Paul.

I waste more than that on the lottery in a couple of weeks  Mind, their press and news section is looking a bit "billy no mates"...

ah, just seen PJA's post, all bets off! I'm still giving it a go though as I am a born gambler.

Yes, Paul there is a flaw to your plan...It's not as if the bailiffs are going to come round and close them down.

The interesting thing about this sort of scheme is that the more people talk about it online, even if it is to say 'Can you believe this shite?', the more it will be linked to, and the better it will work. It's a snowball effect. Unfortunately for the site I have removed the active link from this thread.

New plan! I will shut up, and go and sit in the corner for a while.

Seriously though, would not MSM, Google etc take a dim view on this?

Paul, I thought I found your property on it, so perhaps you can report on its effectiveness further down the line?

you pay per pixel?

seem to recall the original chap had a minimum of 200pixels

not much you can do with a one pixel ad is there?

and no, of course it won't go out of business, diddle overhead

I think I'm doing that, the tiny little squares are only £10 but it pops up to a proper ad and you get a link to your site from the list of advertisers as well

got to be worth the gamble for a tenner surely?

I've been thinking about having a punt too!

It is certainly better than the original milliondollarhomepage.com or whatever it was called, in that the original did not have that very neat popup ad!

My main reservation though is that they are all jumbled together - wouldn't it make more sense to group like with like (ie per country at least)?
