We have a spring in our garden (hence the gite name!) which feeds into a little concrete lined pond. The water then runs down a little stream and then cascades into a bigger stream which is a tributary of the local river. This pond has a real problem with algae. I have two questions;
1) I scoop the algae off regularly - can I use it on the garden as I presume it is pretty rich?
2) How do I stop it forming? I can't put a product in as the water is effectively running. Should I be putting some plants in? I had heard barley straw is effective - anyone tried it?
Ta!
