Commission Based listing sites

I am just looking at my current advertising listings, and looking to add on maybe commission based sites to fill in the gaps.

Has anyone had any experiences of these sites?

I am listed on the normal paid sites like Holiday Lettings and Homeaway and I get a steady stream of business via my own website

But it is good to have a change especially when any of the paid sites are up for renewal.

As my accommodation is aimed at

Couples or Groups with an age range between 30-60
However I do entertain families with young children but as the property is old (c 1550) and listed it really is not an accommodation that is suitable for children to run around in however to property does have a small garden and terrace.

The Mosel wine region (Germany) where my property is based is not full of theme parks and is really suited to people that like walking and relaxing with a bit of culture thrown in

So I would appreciate anyone sharing any advise or experiences good or bad

We are with several commission based sites. They are fine as a source of extra bookings.

Is there an easy way to find reputable commission-based sites without having to trawl through every listing site?

We pay commission to:
- Baby Friendly Boltholes
- Responsible Travel
- booking.com
- hrs
- late rooms
- ciao bambino (but no bookings for ages)

Can't remember any others!

We're with one, which usually provides us with a booking a year. I must say I block out the peak weeks for them - don't want to pay 10% of a peak booking as it's a lot, and I can book them myself no trouble, but they provide a useful occasional gap filler.

Thanks to Margaret for her 'desert island discs' of commission sites. And I can see that Martha's method of blocking off high-season weeks would enable an owner to tailor these sites to their requirements.

Helpful stuff in two short posts - much appreciated both!
