Back Up via the internet

The place to discuss anything to do with computers, software, hardware, no matter how basic or technical. We all use this stuff, but we don't always understand it!

Back Up via the internet

Post by pambon »

I have some files backed up externally, but was wondering what LMH'ers feels about backing up important documents/photos etc via the internet (ex: dropbox.com) It also seems to double up their usefulness as I could send documents to my offspring down under (who did not take his laptop with him) with him loggin in to the site independently.

All comments, suggestions and other websites gratefully received. Thanks!

The hosting company for my website has free cloud storage facility. Does yours?

I've happily been using dropbox for a few years, find it v easy to use (so easy that it just runs in the background and I don't even have to think about it), and like the fact that if I am away from home, as long as I can access the internet (say from an internet cafe or at a friend's house) I can just log in and access my files.

But as I use a Mac and an iPhone, I am considering using the cloud, if I could just get round to setting it up...

I use Sugarsync, many more features, and more storage than Dropbox.
