Hi

Having used the seo-analyzer mentioned elsewhere, the report says that I'm not using the rel="nofollow" anchor attribute. Can anyone please tell me what this is and if it is important. I am a novice at web design and am learning as I go along :?

I'm not using it either it seems

seems to me that it's a command to the spiders not to followthat link

ie an attempt to stop engines penalising you for por outwards links

sounds like cheating to me and the sort of thing google will come down on hard sooner or later

On the contrary, google proposed it in the first place.

It's a way of reducing the dilution of your pagerank if you've got loads of links on your page. For example, if you have a large regional guide you could have dozens of outward links. Adding nofollow lets you avoid diluting your pagerank and still have all those links.

Not sure about doubling it but one way to magnify the "importance" of your site is to get it into dmoz.org . It can take months but is very worthwhile doing (free too).

in there as I recall, I did do most of the leg work early on and then almost gave up once the sandbox malarky bit

came out in January to my utter amazement, hurrah, just have to work on some keywords and phrases that people actually use that the big boys haven't swamped

wtf is a villa when it's at home anyway
