Am super daft when it comes to technology : Washng machine just died....has been on the brink...so I remembered a thread about which washing machine to buy....Search:typed in buy washing machine and over 3000 topics appeared....attempted several different ways but keep getting over 3000 topics....???

This is because it searches for any of the words you type in. Just below the search box you need to click on 'Search for all terms'. This will give you every thread in which every word is used. So if you search for 'buy new washing machine' you get 67 threads instead of 4000.

In search I typed 'washing AND machine' .......I got 441 matches and went down the list looking for one which seemed most relevant. Suppose I could have tried including more words in the search to narrow it down, but then might have missed a thread which didn't actually use those words.
