Reading other threads there have been lots of people who have commented on listing sites. if it is a good site what is the harm.
Why is everyone grilling me. :? :?

I've only asked one question, and I asked it because I am still not convinced your intentions were purely above board. So I'm trying to understand the relationship between you and Paula/Martin.

There is nothing to understand I have stated previously that my friend knows the owner, thats it!!! I own a property that is true. Yes my property is advertised on Bedsandhomes. Yes I like the site, not just because she knows the owner. No I do not own it.
Not sure what I can do accept wait to be asked to leave. If that is what you would all like then I would respect your wishes.

If battley is genuine I think he's been interrogated quite enough and if he's not, then I think bedsandhomes has had quite enough publicity! Don't you think?

Battley, sorry I'm going to repeat a bit of my post of yesterday:
Gascony Goat wrote: listing sites are fundamental to our business, and new sites come and go with depressing regularity. Trust me, I'm telling the truth here - as rental owners, forum members are in the best position possible to know about the volume of these.........

This market is pretty well saturated I suspect, so it's a tough business to get into now unless the newbie has an angle that hasn't been thought of - or specialises in some way... I don't think we are arrogant in saying this, or unsympathetic to anyone seeking a change of direction, but it depends on the direction.
You're extremely determined and I admire you (and I don't mean that in a patronising way) - but I really feel your talents and energies could be put to better use. Here is a post I found from Alan, one of our 'intelligent posters' referred to by someone, which he entered on the forum in May of last year. Alan, I hope you don't mind my dredging it up for the purposes of this thread.
Alan Knighting wrote: A few weeks ago I decided to put them into a separate e-mail folder. So far it contains no less than 67 invitations to join "the best rental site since sliced bread was invented. They vary from the "it's totally free" to the "pay for every fictitious enquiry" and I have managed to resist them all.

No matter what sort of Internet search I do none of them appear at all – well, not on the first few pages and I never go further than that when looking for anything."
In all likelihood that number has increased a further 25% at least since then, and only represents the number that actually found Alan's property in the first place or got around to spamming him.

I have received an email this morning from Maison Europe with regard to why my property was taken down, they have confirmed to me that I was reported yesterday. (Obviously from someone in this forum) Which is a shame as believe it or not I was receiving enquiries from them also. So my house does appeal to some people out there.
My property does exist and is due to be completed soon, perhaps I could send a photo in of the finished product in a couple of months time.
I agree with the last post on here that I would be better putting my energy into something else.
This does confirm that the couple of sacrcastic comments I received yesterday regarding me taking my property off maison europe prooves I was genuine as I did not do that, someone from this forum made that happen. (Why?)
And NO I do not own Maison Europe either.

Battley, I don't understand the 'this does confirm' remark. :? Do you really think someone from here went to the trouble of shopping you to Maison Europe? I think they've all been busy enough here!

I can't believe anyone from this forum would have gone to the trouble of reporting you Battley, do you think maybe MaisonEurope read this forum and did it themselves?
I still have a problem with the name of bedsandhomes.com for the name of a listing site, to me it sounds like a website for interior design, not holiday rentals, again just a personal opinion.

I had an email from them saying it had "been reported" that my property is not finished being built. But they have invited me back to join again.
Maybe people out there think it is wrong to advertise my property on an artist impression, at the end of the day I just would not get the bookings but the way I looked at it, its a bonus if I could fill up a couple of the weeks in order to know I had some money coming in next year. Was new to this game and maybe a bit forward with advertising. I did not know that it would not go down too well with others.

GG,

Thank you so much! I’m bursting with pride; I’ve been promoted; I’ve become an “intelligent poster.

I don’t mind being quoted, not one little bit. If I ever object to anyone quoting what I have said here then - I shouldn’t have said it.

When I moved to France what I bought included a couple of self-catering cottages. At the time I knew nothing about self-catering but imagined I knew “something. I decided to overhaul the marketing to include some “free Rental Sites, despite the fact that the previous owner told me I would be wasting my time. How right he was. I remain on the few of those Sites which still exist (I see no point in removing myself) but I can say without exception that in seven years not one of them has produced a single enquiry.

Now that my larger cottage is let for the year I am simply looking for a minimum of 12 weeks bookings for the smaller one. I’m not greedy; those 12 weeks give me a very good return on my initial investment (about 20% after paying overheads) and the “paid for Rental Sites do that for me. I have only 2 of those 12 weeks booked at the moment but I’m not worried. In the past I’ve often had nothing booked at this time of the year.

The “spamming Rental Sites in my special folder now total 114, and increasing by the week.

Alan
