Bit of a strange one here....

From the moment they step through the door your bookings become guests, and their experiences determine whether they ever come back.

Bit of a strange one here....

Post by KathyG »

Guests due to arrive yesterday for 12 nights have disappeared into thin air. Their plan was to take the Eurotunnel on Sunday, stay in Bruges for the night then drive over to west Brittany from there, seriously long drive, they're mad. Anyway they stopped returning emails on Saturday, don't seem to be at the house and not answering mobile or texts.

The thing is, we couldn't get hold of the caretakers to prepare house and get heating on but they wanted to go anyway so as it was friends there last in November who are OCD about cleaning I decided to wing it and hope for the best - it's only 1 couple and their dog. I know there's a problem with the boiler anyway so I need to explain how to manage that and asked them to ring as soon as they got there so I could talk them through it. But a worrying silence so far.

They have paid in full.

They've got stuck in the tunnel.....

Worrying when you are left hanging on, but nothing else you can do. Hopefully you will get news at some point and it's not bad. :(

Worrying. I hate loose ends. Hope they turn up safe and sound.

Still no news, all very odd, and a tad worrying.

oh dear it is a little worrying.

When you say they don't seem to be at the house, what do you mean? Has anyone been able to go round?

Our caretakers are in the UK for Christmas and the immediate neighbours seem to be away too. All I can do is ring the house and their mobile and email them but still nothing. I even rang their UK home number in case they didn't even manage to leave, no-one there either.

Well they've finally made contact. All is well, they were just a bit traumatised after a 13 hr drive from Bruges. to arrive at a cold house with no beds made so they slept on the sofas as the only room with electric heating to give immediate heat. Poor things but they're happy and tucking into the wine. :D

Bless em! Hope they get linen and heat from here on in and manage to enjoy their holiday once they've recovered from the journey.

That must be a relief for you. If you hadn't heard from them by today I was going to offer to go and see if they were there. We live about an hour and a half away.

How very odd that they didn't think to let you know about their hugely delayed arrival. They must have mobile phones surely? Some people deserve to spend the night on a sofa really. It's the 'inconsiderate guests' version of the naughty step.
