Maybe we should be careful with this. I was so taken with this amusing email I copied the text to some friends.
My mail was blocked on two of them - Hotmail and AOL - as unacceptable.

Can't think why, just thought I'd mention it.

Couldn't resist the excuse to post this job opportunity golden oldie:

Helping Hands Rescue Mission
Oxford Road
High Wycombe
Bucks

Dear

Perhaps you have heard of me and my nationwide campaign in the cause of temperance.

Each year, for the past fourteen, I have made a tour of the British Isles and have delivered a series of lectures on the evils of drinking. On this tour I have been accompanied by my young friend and assistant, Clyde Lindstone. Clyde, a young man of good family and excellent background, is a pathetic example of a life ruined by excessive indulgence in drinking and debauchery.

Clyde would appear with me at the lecture, and sit on the platform wheezing and staring at the audience through bleary bloodshot eyes, sweating profusely, dribbling, breaking wind and making obscene gestures while I would point him out as an example of what evil indulgences can do to a person.

Last winter, sadly, Clyde died. A mutual friend has given me your name and I wonder if you would be available to take his place on my forthcoming annual tour?

Yours sincerely

Rev. David Jones

To complete the thread creep, but it sort of follows on from my previous post, a well-dressed middle-aged man is walking very unsteadily along the road at 3:00am, swaying as he goes. A passing police car stops and the officer approaches the man:

"Hello Sir, could you tell me where you're headed?"
"Shertainly offisher, I'm on my way to a lecture on the evils of drink."
"I see, Sir. And just who will be giving this lecture on the evils of drink at 3:00 in the morning?"
"My wife."
