Starch?

Agencies and other headaches, keys and cleaners, running costs and contracts...in short, all the things we spend so much of our time doing behind the scenes.<br>

Starch?

Post by Mouse »

having just received the Lakeland Catalogue this morning I noticed that they are now selling starch.

I must admit to having a longing for lovely starched sheets - but I may be looking through rose tinted spectacles.

Do you think starch adds a touch of luxury to bedding? Or is it old fashioned?

Also - how the devil do you use it?

I used to use a spary on starch on my napkins in the Uk - when I did posh dinner parties for K's clients - they did feel lovley to open.

get a tub of white wizard whilst you're there Vally - you won't regret it! Fabulous stain remover (here I go on stains again)

Enid - It looks (on the photo) like I would put this in the washing machine, can you do that with starch?

Mouse (already making up a list of things to starch!)

Starch makes things hard and stiff, I wouldn't use it on sheets or pillow cases. I have a spray can that I use when pressing a linen table runner, but wouldn't use on anything next to the skin, except maybe a formal white dinner shirt or linen suit.

That's funny, the Spam adverts I get regularly seem to have the same effect! Maybe starch could be the new Viagra.

They used to be called "Lakeland Plastics " but dropped the plastics bit a few years ago cos it was a bit downmarket and they do a lot more than plastics ! They sell all sorts of household things- cleaners of most descriptions, kitchenalia, cookery books, some foodstuffs ( like chutney, choc sauce, liquorice - I LOVE their liquorice ),storage stuff, doormats etc. They have a web site, a paper catalogue plus around 20 stores - there is one within a 10 min walk of where I live. Their stuff is generally good quality, usually not cheap but reliable .
Yes, it is 4 am. I am up cos of the huge thunder storm- my bedroom roof is leaking and I have a wet bed !!! Boo Hoo !!

Ohh John! :D :D :D The mind boggles!

Returning to Lakeland - agree, Frise, and I've been a fan for years. The mail order customer service team are extremely helpful, I've found.
