Not so. I live in Italy and have both my own home and another holiday rental insured by Intasure. And they have paid up on claims on both properties without any problems.
I know loads of others here in Italy who are insured with IntaSure

+1 to that. Insurers will look for any reason to void a claim and a blatant lie on an application is a fast track to rejection from their perspective. There is no point in arranging insurance under which you will never be able to successfully claim. Just a general comment for any lurkers not for LMH veterans!
As a vague hijack, as this is the Spanish board does anyone have a recommendation for an insurer or good broker for non-holiday buildings and contents insurance in Spain??
Try InsureMyVilla
"At Insure My Villa we specialise in Overseas Property Insurance for ex-pats who either live permanently abroad or own a property overseas..."
As I took my Intasure Insurance out when I was non resident a few years ago I thought I’d better phone them and check that it was still valid now I am resident , I was told it doesn’t make any difference .. ...

No Mousie, Intasure insure rental properties overseas and also private overseas homes for non-UK residents. I insure both of these with Intasure and have done so for the last 8 years, during which time I have not been a UK resident. I give them my true overseas address for the paperwork.
It is true that many insurers in the UK won't insure overseas properties, unless the insured is a UK resident. It is worth noting that a non-UK resident giving a false UK residential address (like for example the address of a close friend or relative) is skating on thin ice. "Residence" means actual residence and if the insurers find out that you have made a false disclosure, they can quite legitimately avoid paying out on a claim.
Apologies!! Yes you are all correct, I was getting mixed up with the ad on LMH.....they're Schofields not Intasure! (Did it used to be Intasure or have I gone completely mad!?)
This is what Schofields (the ad on LMH) say on their quote result;
1. Are we able to cover you:
Cover is only available for full time residents of the UK and other parts of the British Isles with a holiday home/second home in the UK, Spain, France, Portugal or Italy.
They don't except anything on the quote other than a UK postcode.
So I will now remove the administration note on my earlier post.
Do any of these insurers protect you for loss of income if there's a credit card/debit card CHARGEBACK? So loss of income if rogue guests pay online (eg HA/HL etc) and then do a chargeback after there stay...
Reading experiences online it seems too easy for dishonest guests to do.

The ad at the top rotates between Intasure and Schofields. You need to be UK-resident for Schofields, you don't for Intasure. Your post was in reference to Intasure I think, so the amendment was correct.

But they cannot if you provide proof they stayed at your property. It is even easier now with regulations stating you have to take details of guests and forward them to the G.C. or have not the Valencians caught up with the rest of Spain?
