Should be in the Charente Jan '07

Post by Bella »

We are due to take over a house with 2 gites in Jan '07. Have looked in interest at these forums, which have given a great insight.
Looking forward to the life style, after being in business in the UK for 20yrs.
I'm unemployed til then and getting rather bored, although I never thought I would lol

Hi Tina ,Welcome to the Forum..... :D

Once you get up and running Im sure you might hanker after a bit of quiet time[ie boredom]
judging by the frantic pace some of the other owners seem to have.....
but Im sure you will enjoy it...

Keep us posted and Good Luck... :D

Cheers Ros,

I'm really looking forward to it. After just doing a ton of ironing and making a steak & kidney pie, I'm starting to feel like a stepford wife lol

Hubby still has to work til the end of Nov......ahhhhhhhh

Thank you one and all.
Well we have found out who to buy the wood from, so we are nice and toasty now.
We are still learning the language so we have had some funny moments, but I have to saythe locals have been very helpful, as we try.
Hubby is really getting into the DIY and for an ex psyci nurse that liked his sofa, thats really good lol
I'm due to start on the garden this weekend and for a novice with 2 acres its abit daunting. it is laid out to some degree but needs abit of TLC. Already been rining a mate about what to do with my roses :-)

Should they be so high and out of control, prune them really hard in late Feb early March, if they are not, and you like where they have grown too or covering, prune back a little just before the sap rises usually late Feb early March in the Charente.

I love to be in our garden at spring time; pruning shrubs trees, even cutting the grass, with hay fever.

Always wanted to grow olives, neighbours said they wouldn't grow as the weather was so diverse, got one, now 4 years old and showing fruit. Mind, I do cover [olive] her, with a blanket after autum.
