If you are planning to buy a rental home, or you're thinking about what to do with one you have just acquired, this is the place for any questions about starting out in the rentals business.

accountant with holiday rental experience

Post by Annieb »

Hi

I would be grateful if anyone can recommend an accountant with holiday rental experience . We have just started renting out a small bungalow in North Cornwall. We have little experience in this area and was hoping for someone who has reasonable fees.
We live in Buckinghamshire. I guess it does not matter too much where the accountant is located due to email communication.
I look forward to any recommendations.

Thank you.

My furnished holiday let was in Spain but the rules are the same from the perspective of UK tax reporting as a UK resident (which I was at the time). I lived in London but used this firm in the North East and I paid no UK tax on my rental income for three years because of allowable expenses racked up in year one. I can recommend them as long as you are happy with online/secure portal reporting: https://www.clarandaccountants.co.uk/

I've used DHC Accounting for the last few years and found them to be very good - one of their specialist services is furnished holiday lets. http://www.dhcaccounting.co.uk/

I have been using Francis Clark for a few years. The team in their Taunton specialise in FHL. I also live in Bucks so do everything remotely. I just send them a spreadsheet and they sort out the rest.
