UK properties requesting non UK visitors passport details -

Visit Britain say in their pink book that this is a requirement for self catering holiday lets, but that it is probably destined for the shredder as Greenbarn suggested.

However, reading the Explanatory Notes, the order itself says it is intended for people staying at "hotels and similar premises". I would argue that we are not similar to hotels as we don't accepted drop-in travellers, and have the permanent address of who we are renting to - in theory anyway.

The order applies to anyone who "receives" any other to stay in the premises so does this not imply that you are there and possibly even remain there (yourself or represented by another) during their stay?
