How is Google getting its accommodation data now?

Post by Ben McNevis »

For a long time, we have had plenty of bookings from people who click on the Google MyBusiness links on Google Maps. Both our properties are still on MyBusiness and both still showing up on Maps.

Now, when you do a Google search for, say, "Holiday cottage Fort William", just below the Adwords links comes a box with a short list and a map. This is as google has been doing for a couple of years with hotels and last July, for some areas there was a tab for "rentals" at the top of the Hotels list. Now, the box is coming up when you search just for rentals.

I think that this is a new thing within the past 2 or 3 weeks. The data source is NOT MyBusiness. And our properties don't show in that box. Those that do are an odd mixture, mostly with a owner's website linked but some with AirBnB as the primary website link and some with a sponsored bit below for Booking.com

We are a bit peeved to be missing out on this. Does anyone know how to get included?
Cheers, Ben
