I was reading a Spanish vacation industry news site. They were discussing TA.

AirBnB are certainly going to or wanting to get away from the so called sharing community. But can it shake that image off?
Toyota when it moved into the higher end car range market place used a new name Lexus.
Maybe they too should have used or purchased a new name for this exercise.
aasta, if you want "up market" then have you considered Alastair Sawday?
To list is not cheap but I do understand they limit the number of listings in an area.

Thanks for all your input.
We are listed on Sawdays since last May...but are wondering ifwe should renew in May, since the €500,00 fee is hefty, and since we only had 2 short bookings so far.

That is expensive.
Booking is not cheap but the fees are on a commission basis. So you no up front fee which normally has no guarantee.
Fees for Booking is something like 15/17% that is over all of your charges. However, as you normally have to pay IVA (VAT) over your guests charge you will also pay Booking their commission over the taxes too. So in effect you may loose around 20% to Booking.

oasiscouple, we are also in France & do similar to yourself - high rate on bdotcom & lowrate on air....for 2yrs now all our new French enquiries are direct via phone asking for a price between the 2 which just so happens to be the same as the price on our own website. The French are canny & word has spread that we hosts pay 15% to bdotcom, whereas air charge the guest 12%. They use the big boys to find a place, then search for us direct...this year the Dutch & belgians are starting to do the same. Helps if your property name is your headline. The same goes for property for sale - all our French viewings are direct so as to save agents fees.
