Ah my honeymoon was 1 night in Gretna Green. All we could afford and that was because dad insisted on giving us the money for the reception meal on the day. (£110)

Oh, and we had to be back by 3 p.m next day as Newcastle were playing at home.

Ahhh Soodyer, Thats a lovely story

How many years have you been married.... :D

We got married in January and it snowed...no Honeymoon and in a little house we rented off my brother with an outside loo and no bathroom...he said we could rent it cheap and Chris could put a bathroom in....which he did...still remeber hanging washing out and it freezing to my hands and being chuffed to bits when a friend gave me an old spinner she had so the water wouldnt run down my arms as I hung it....Happy memories though.... :D

Soo, that is just so fantastic, and I hope we'll hear all about it on your return. It's a few weeks off, but in case I forget, I hope you have just the best time! Congratulations!!!

Many thanks for all feedback on this, and apologies for returning to the original theme 8) .

Early days, of course, but true love seems to have won the day, weather an irrelevant factor, and things are going smoothly; slightly unusual payment arrangements, but it's looking good, and no special requests for overpayment.

Hooves crossed.

I've never known a forum for such random off-topic stuff - makes it much more interesting.

As long as we're not too far off... (and I'm an offender  ) It makes it more like a real conversation to me than a bunch of anoraks talking about their specialised subject only!

Now what happened to that dog in the slipper bath?

Sue,
It makes it more like a real conversation to me than a bunch of anoraks talking about their specialised subject only!
Thanks for the insight; I must be an anorak with a touch of the chatterer. I like to stay somewhere vaguely near the subject being discussed and I like to relegate idle inconsequential chit-chat to the Café.

Sounds like me too Alan! A chatty person in an anorak - does yours have some nice fluffy lining?

I don't have one but if I did it would definitely have a fluffy lining.

No, apparently I am one, a chatty one at that. I must be, I’m chatting right now.

Still looking dubious from here. Isn't the whole point about scams that everything sounds normal except the slightly unusual payment arrangements?

Still looking dubious from here - Joanna

Oh ye of little faith....

Now look, I'm running around ordering champagne and making sure there's going to be fresh flowers for their arrival and the village choir's on standby (OK, maybe not the choir) and you're still dubious about the whole thing.

True, weird payment, only mobile phone, strange address, but hey, it's a rare early December rental....and we've been lucky so far.

Look, it only happens once in their lives (or twice, or three times I suppose) and we want to make it well special.

Hi Goat isnt it funny when were not so suspicious or fussy if its not a peak time we are booking...

reminds me of a time of the BSM scare, my friend had been lecturing me all morning on the dangers and how she wasnt ever never going to eat beef again...
That afternoon she phoned to say shed just bought loads of Steak from Sainsburys and did I want any?
I said what about the scare, she said... ....but it was half price...at least she didnt say she was going to stick it in the freezer until the scare was over!!!!

Im sure your instincts will see you through though....you old romantic...
