Fake reviews

Post by Mazey »

It is well known that online reviews significantly influence holidaymakers’ choice of properties. There are several websites which have set themselves up as independent and trustworthy review sites eg Trustpilot and Feefo. There is a recent article published by Which (the UK consumer organisation) about fake reviews that makes interesting reading.

The article is about Amazon but many of their points are relevant to our industry. I have been looking at Sykes Cottages entries on Trustpilot. Draw your own conclusions, particularly points 1, 3 and 5.

Sykes have found a way to successfully manipulate Trustpilot.
Whether Trustpilot are aware of this is a question that they should be answering.
