Obligatory Online Payments via Booking.com?

OTA = Online Travel Agency, which means those sites that sell the booking and take the payment for you.

Yet another BIG change, very soon after they hit us with their new handling charge for Online Payments. With 7 days notice we have been told we will be enrolled to Online Payments, apparently with no choice! We have objected in the strongest possible terms and their initial response was that "My team is currently investigating how you can opt-out of payments by booking". This smells of outright profiteering, something new for this company in our experience. We hope others will join us in trying to persuade them that we should continue to have freedom of choice.

I haven't heard anything from them on this.

They did try to persuade me to settle my monthly invoices by DDM a couple of weeks ago which I resisted.

If you're unhappy about this you definitely won't like it when instant booking becomes obligatory across the 4 big sites.
