Every year I rent a property for about three months whilst working away on The Open. Just got back from Portrush. Many others do the same. I have had an 8 week let for a worker in our holiday flat. It is common. Nobody wants tomstay in a hotel for that duration.

Hmmmm, but the “main residence” bit is what is worrying. It would imply they could be seen as tenants, as they declared their situation from the outset.
A person's primary residence, or main residence is the dwelling where they usually live, typically a house or an apartment. A person can only have one primary residence at any given time, though they may share the residence with other people. Wikipedia
