New Forest Newbie - Local agents v's Portal

Post by Ivy »

Hi all, I'm at the end of a refurb and turning attention to admin side of business. Based in New forest and wondered if any other members in the region have experience with local/specialist agencies i.e. Newforestcottages.com, newforestliving(holidaycottages.co.uk)? Alternatively, portal sites such as travel nest or finest retreats have come up as an option.

Still early research stages so grateful for any points to consider when making my choice.

My feeling was that, as it will be our first year then a local agent would be a good place to start. But he obvious downside being much higher commission and lack of full management option (we are remote).

Many more questions to come... brace yourselves

I think if Covid-19 is still going to be around, remote management is going to be almost impossible. Health and Safety and cleaning is going to be vital and having one company dealing with everything would be a huge advantage.

Thanks newtimber, totally my feeling. Covid certainly isn't going away in a hurry so belt and braces for cleaning has to be the only approach. And with the gov guidelines being fairly vague and ever changing, it seems sensible to let the experts take reigns and call in the professionals.

Any advice on recruiting a cleaning agency? Neither of the management agencies locally based cover housekeeping in their service unfortunately
