I am in the UK and have had 16 new bookings since the 4 July. Amazing, being in the West Midlands, we didn't expect anything like that.
We shan't make the 105 nights but things are looking better, even with 72 hours between each let.

Good to hear it Jonathan. I think a lot of property owners are finding that this year isn't going to be as dire as they thought. Here in France it's busy too for the second half of the season. People desperate to get away and of course on mainland Europe it's easy - people are just driving and not flying or taking the train. |

When the July 4th re-opening date was announced, the local news reports over the following few days were of bookings being up by hundreds of percent, and people being inundated with phone calls and emails - and we sat here wondering who was getting them, because we weren't, not a single booking or enquiry, but then we were in no hurry anyway...
....it was the first week of July itself before we got any bookings, with a handful being made for the end of the month and into August, half of which have since cancelled - then, last week, we got another 'rush', and now have 10 bookings starting from tomorrow through until the end of September, about a seventh of what we had over the same period last year, although, of course, we'll hopefully get more over the coming weeks...
....we think that a contributory factor might well be that the main local attractions that people choose us for - namely The Eden Project and The Lost Gardens of Heligan - are operating at limited capacity with date and time-allocated pre-bookings only. It's a 'chicken and egg' situation - do people book their Eden and Heligan tickets first, then try to find somewhere to stay, or book accommodation first, and then try to get tickets... _________________ Took the plunge, bought a guest house! |

I'm in the U.S. We were shut down (mandated) from end of March to end of May. Starting mid June things REALLY picked up. We'd be as full as ever if we didn't keep 2 nts empty between guests. Seems like most aren't even doing that. |
