Electric car charge points
Electric car charge points
We are considering installing an electric charging point for our let. Is there still a grant available? Any recommendations for installers/ types? Any do's and don't's?!
I don't think there are any grants unless you are buying an electric car.
We didn't buy one with an attached lead as there are different leads for different cars and a damaged lead is one more thing that needs repairing...
You do need a qualified electrician to install them - you want the 7kW charge really.

Your question inspired me to look at the cost of installing a domestic charging point for electric vehicles. My search revealed that government grants are available from the Office of Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV). Here are two links;

Looks like there are two grants, one for domestic installations and one for business installations.cThe domestic grant is £350 and, good news for those who live in Scotland, there is an additional grant of £300 is also available.
