Goldcar again and again..

Goldcar again and again..

Post by Vera »

We have just had a lovely family here for half term.
Goldcar was the only car rental option at Almeria airport. They were sweet talked into taking the maximum insurance after waiting over an hour to pick up the car.

They returned the car to Alicante airport yesterday. The car was dirty having been through some muddy puddles to go horse riding, but not caked in mud. It was sandy inside from a few visits to the beach with 2 little ones.

They have been charged 150 euros for cleaning.

This is excessive to say the least, any thoughts on how to fight this charge?

Gold car are known for the practices of charging for extras.

The normal way of customer services complaints in Spain is to fill out a Hojas De Reclamaciones. You maybe able to do that online.

I know about Goldcar and even advise people not to use them on my website.
There was no option in this instance at short notice, I even tried all the local companies here.

Thanks for the complaints idea, I will look into that, we have a complaints book for our accommodation, thankfully we haven't had to use it.

I have checked the Goldcar conditions and it states.

Charge for 'special cleaning' for the costs incurred from an additional valeting service arising from the clearly inadequate state of the vehicle at the time of its return, with a maximum charge of €150.

So I don't think they will get any joy. Just let this be a warning and another reason to avoid these crooks.

I saw those T&Cs too. They could try to raise a claim with their credit card company.
Some guests just need a sympathetic pat. On the head. With a hammer.
