Subdomains

OK, I'm obviously doing something fundamentally dumb! I'm trying to set up a couple of minisites on subdomains of the main sites - one is to push the golfing angle a little harder, the other is to do a favour for Da Boss' husbands relatives.

So, in the second instance, I've called the subdomain "chamonix-argentiere". But entering 'chamonix-argentiere.andaluciarentals.eu' in the address bar tells me I'm an idiot, whereas 'chamonix-argentiere.andaluciarentals.eu.index.htm' is perfectly fine!

Any (well, most) suggestions gratefully received!

odd - perhaps it needs to be index.html?
