refunding a small amount of $canadian

Post by ashtondav »

I think it highly likely i will have to return a small amount of $Canadian to a guest. Probably about £40 UK pounds. They do not have a paypal account. Is there any cheap way of doing this or, to be quite frank, am i better off just going to the post office, ordering $40 and sending the cash through the post and taking the risk?

Would sending him a cheque for £40 be an outrageous suggestion?

A lot of the Canadians I know do keep British bank accounts running, could be worth asking.

Would that work or would they have to pay an exhorbitant fee to their bank.

They don't have a UK bank account.

We had guests from USA and I refunded their deposit by sending it in cash via recorded delivery. The amount was too small for registered post (which I know you are supposed to use if sending money or anything valuable)..but it got there safely (saving me the extortionist bank transfer charges!

I used Western Union for a deposit refund to Norway that was giving me trouble (Paul C recommended it - story on another thread). It worked a treat and was incredibly easy to arrange with payment by credit card online, received in a couple of hours. Not sure of cost for sending that amount, but worth checking.
