Hi GG

Love the old, love the new aswell :D The new one is centred better on the page and I prefer the options purely at the top as opposed to top and side like the old site.

Agree about the bathroom shot, it's the only one that 'lets the side down' a bit, so to speak. I must be in a minority here but I have to say that I actually prefer the old site for the way the thumbs open ie I personally prefer such beautiful pictures to stand on their own as opposed to the new site which brings them up at the side of the page and for me doesn't make them make quite such a statement.
Don't waste energy on things you can't change.

Thanks for your comments Party! Should have dealt with the bathroom one already really, as I was aware it didn't quite cut the mustard. We have one of the family bathroom we may exchange for it pro-tem, once we are comfortable with tweaking the site ourselves.

The thumbnails opened in a new window before, and this didn't work quite as well practically. What would be really nice is a gallery at some point - one which allows the viewer to move effortlessly from one enlarged pic to the next. There's a thread about galleries somewhere, but I don't think exactly the right solution has been offered there yet.

Any clues anyone? :)

GG,just seen this thread, what a lovely place and the website to match! Classy. It exudes elegance and calm.Beautiful. I tried lots of the bits and pieces and they all worked for me. It says "come and be beguiled".

A frazzled but happy strawberry ( we ended up in double figures for The Meal ! Had to buy a last minute pheasanty thing to join Monsieur Turkey).

I think everything's probably been said about the site, GG. It's really nice now, clear and informative and the property looks mouthwatering.

I have a gallery on my site. For me, I'm not completely happy with it, and when I get some apartment pics I shall get my webman (makes him sound like a duck!) to organise it into 3 sections if he can - apartment, immediate area and further afield.

If what I have is what you're looking for, let me know and I'll ask him how he did it.

Can't believe the generosity and kindness you've all shown with your comments and advice. Group hug of thanks. Richard has effected a quick bit of surgery, bless him, so another bathroom shot is visible on the Booking page, replacing the one with the hairbrush.... nothing too exciting, but an improvement. Don't forget to refresh the page, anyone with the energy to take a peek.

Pauline, your gallery looks great, and just the sort of thing (complete with captions) I had in mind, so if you can furnish us with some more information please, we'd be extremely grateful! Thank you. :D

GG..what can I say!...I don't normally look at the 'website review' thread because I don't have any technical knowledge to offer...but as a 'punter' I really love the website! .....if I wasn't so busy renting our villa I'd love to rent your holiday farmhouse!

GG, I'll ask my web designer after New year. I'll let him relax for a few days first. I think he'll be chuffed to be asked, to be honest! Up to now I keep passing on tips that I've picked up either from here or from the various other sites that deluge one with tips about SEO, so I should think he'll be glad to think he's ahead of the game in one thing at least!

Have been having another look at your site as I am just revamping mine. One thing I did notice was that the links along the top seem clickable but actually are just an entry to the drop downs. Just a little confusing. Thought you would want to know any slight negatives as well as all the praise

I agree Enid - and thanks, it is a bit confusing, but the menu system we used, similar to the original, was the only choice in the end without redesigning the layout of each page. :(

Out of interest, when you hover the mouse on one of those headings at the top, it should just show an arrow - and when moved to one of the sub-menu links, it changes to one of those cute pointing hand thingies - or should? I'd be keen to know if that's not happening on some browsers.
