Another no- brainer!

Post scam emails to warn other rental owners, or if you are not sure if an enquiry is genuine, put it up here and see what others think.

long let, dubious spelling and punctuation, spins a yarn as to why he's based in Nigeria, refers to our property as an apartment (why can't these hopefuls personalise their emails a bit more convincingly?) ......

Bill, you'll be waiting a long time!

GG,

My problem is not identifying scams – they are so patently obvious.

My problem is in wondering why scams continue to exist. My conclusion is that they continue to exist because some people fall for them, incredible though it may seem.

Avoiding becoming a victim is the easiest thing in the world.

Yes, it's remarkable isn't it Fluffy. Maybe we're in the wrong business, and should all become Dr X or Pastor Y,(or oil baron Z now) with a bucket load of money to spend on a long term let in two weeks' time in an apartment in deepest Slovenia!! At least we'd have better grammar, spelling and punctuation! And maybe we'd be cannier in whom we targeted. Might take a bit more time - we'd have to email punters individually for starters, but what do you think? :D

GG,
there'd be an end to mass emails for starters, but what do you think?
I think my life would be improved enormously without them.

As a discriminating person I see no point in them. I think the people who are attracted by them are more stupid than the people who distribute them.

I may not be all that bright but nor am I as dim as a Tock-H Lamp

and I don’t like being treated as though I was.

Interestingly, Partridge's entry for this:

(Of a person) very dull: Services': since ca. 1925; by 1960 ob. Common in RAF until past 1960.

p.1098 Partridge (Eric) A Dictionary of Slang and Unconventional English 1970 ed. Routledge & Kegan Paul, London.
