Alarm bells ringing with James S***** from California?

Post scam emails to warn other rental owners, or if you are not sure if an enquiry is genuine, put it up here and see what others think.

Why doesn't he know if you're in the States or the UK

Once again, your feedback's invaluable, many thanks.. However I do feel it's worth a punt for a bit of November cash, and, I ask innocently, what's there to lose?

I've offered him credit cards or direct payment into some running-away bank deposit account of Mrs G's which has got just enough in it to fill the car.

And although I think the general opinion is that it is a scam, this one, for us at least, is a touch more convincing than the run-of-the-mill Nigerian God squad stuff.

More news as it develops. Surname is Stone, PC, and clean on Google.

Thanks, Rab, and if anything gets paid in, must remember to retrieve it before Mrs G gets wind of it....

Exactly; it’s worth a go and so long as you can keep his grubby figures out of your pocket what’s there to lose except a bit of your time?

Good luck MG and you never know, if it turns out to be genuine then maybe we will have to learn not to be such a cynical bunch sometimes, long live the learning experience

When I run out of my own words, and I frequently do, I borrow those of other. Was it from The Rambler?

MG ...Let us know whether this is a genuine enquiry or a 'no-show'
(...Samuel Johnson quote? I had to 'Google' to find out who he was:? Apparently he is the second most quoted person in the English language after Shakespeare!)

PC
This came through on www.ineurope.co.uk which usually gives the smallest detail on ISP / what they stuck in Google / what they had for lunch etc. but in fact was just the raw yahoo.co.uk source on Gmail, so will ask them for further info.

Will do. It could run for a while, though.
