Hi Pauline

It's a lovely site, I have a few comments that might be useful, I am looking at it on a Mac using Safari so I don't know if this will show up any different to a PC:

1. On the completed watercolours page the text starts by the side of the first picture, which I think would look better starting under the first picture.

2. On the details, costs etc page, you have a full stop next to the heading DETAILS and not next to the COSTS heading, I think its better without. Also before your dates I don't think you need to put "the" 30th etc. Under the COSTS in your bulleted list you have full stops after some of the bullets and not after others. You might also be better to put the prices at the beginning of the line then the description after as the £610 gets a bit lost at the end of the line.

3. I agree with other comments that it would be good to have one standard font throughout for the main body text and also a standard style for the headings as there are several different styles and colours.

4. I am of the "school of thought" that there should not be a comma before "and" others may not agree though!! Paolo??

Hope this is helpful!

Carole :)

Thanks Rosbif. I'm working on it at the moment, and have maintained the same colour and size of font (it's still all Trebuchet apart from headings in Arial). It's now all dark blue/green, which I like but if anyone can't read it like that, please let me know. But I don't like black on white - it looks like a memo to me, and as I can't change the background colour I've changed the writing instead. However I kept it in black on white for the form to make sure it prints if someone prefers to print it.

I'll have a look at the inconsistencies in the grammar. You're right, there shouldn't be a comma before and. Where is it?

I'll post again in a few minutes.

Pauline

There were a quite a few commas before and's so might be worth just reading through the text again to double check ...

Hi Pauline,

I'm really being picky now, but......

I don't like the wording 'down the left hand side' Perhaps just say 'on the left'?

I know, I'm sorry, I'll shut up now.

Here it is again. All font systemetised other than where I said in my last posting, almost all , and removed, but one left in as otherwise the eye rushes on too fast, and the one after 'Jane' is grammatically correct.

I'd taken out the bit about navigating on the left in ay case, because it was only as I hadn't been able to work out how to get the headings out from under 'site map'.

I've altered the costings as suggested. That page, though, I've kept in a smaller size type, as otherwise the information gets overwhelming.

If you're not fed up with it by now www.watercoloursinspain.co.uk

Hi TopCat got confused this morning looking for this thread as you changed your name!!

It's looking much better, the only thing I would say is you still have a few varieties in the style of headings on different pages, some are in capitals some with Initial Caps, so it might be good to standardise those to keep it clean looking.

The prices look much clearer now.

Hi carole, yes, I'm working on it at the moment, checking headings and also a few more maverick commas. If I were marking a student's essay I would be striking out all those commas, but there are (I think) slightly different conventions for other modes of writing, so I've left a couple in. Or sometimes i've just started a new sentence instead, which probably reads better.

I'm currently working on a maps and directions page as well. It occurred to me that if people wanted to come as a couple, they might prefer to have a car.

I also wondered if I should include a non-painting day. What do people think? There will obviously be a day-off from painting for the trip to Seville, but I wondered if people might want to spend time exploring the area as well. Of course they can choose to do so, but they might worry about missing something.

Regards and many thanks,

Hi TC it might be nice to offer a break from the painting, as I am sure most people would like to see a little of the area too. How about a non painting afternoon/evening where they could explore if you didn't want to do a whole day?

Well yes, we've done that. After lunch at 1.30 they can either continue with painting or go off and explore, and since this is Spain, evening meals will be quite late so there won't be much evening work.

I just wondered if people might feel like taking a full day off - there are quite a few excursions available locally which require a full day to do.

Hey TC, :D

I think if people are going to book for a painting holiday, that will be their main interest. You have included enough free time either compulsory or voluntary to satisfy most I would think.

You wouldn't want anyone to start saying there wasn't enough focus on painting.

Looking really good TC.

I agree with Kip, better to allow opt outs than forced days off. This way, nobody will complain.

Oh God, I think that's it now!

If you've any energy left: www.watercoloursinspain.co.uk

A very tired TC

Oh drat, I still haven't rationalised the headings! I'll do it tomorrow.

Hi TC, you've done a great job it looks really nice, one small observation on your directions one of the points (cant rem which number) needs a capital letter at the beginning. Is there any reason too why the second set of directions is in a bigger font?

I've read through the detail a bit more now and I agree with the others I think you have enough "non painting" time, you have the trip to Seville and you say that if anyone wants to take time out they can, so I think thats fine.

Bravo! :) :) :)

No reason! I hadn't noticed. Thanks again.

And many thanks to everybody that has taken the time - a lot of time - to keep looking again and again. It's much appreciated.
