What do people think about having music on a site?

maybe if the choice is there for it but it freaks me out if I load a page and it starts playing - I always turn it straight off!

No way! I always turn it off as soon as I can... How about a poll: which is worse music or toilets with seats up?

Yikes! I hate it when you get music suddenly pumping out at 3AM when I'm discreetly (as in without waking the household up, not the other type of discreet!) surfing the web.

If you must, turn it off by default with a play me button somewhere. But for me, music on a site has the same effect as animated under constructions gifs

My 2€ anyway,

Ok get the point! Oh well, guess you're not going to get to hear Seymour's dulcet tones after all . . . .

There's also a copyright issue which may land you on the wrong side of a lawyer.

Music on a site: whatever you choose is liable to appeal to only a small minority of your visitors, and make the rest leave your site asap. Definitely a bad idea!

Depends whether you classify Mr Seymour's dulcet tones as music .......
