Overseas Property TV

Using press and magazine advertising, brochures, mailings - old hat or still cost-effective?

Overseas Property TV

Post by Margaret »

As I have mentioned in some other topics, we recorded 3 programmes for Overseas Property TV (Sky 287) earlier this year. These are mainly lightweight entertainment programmes, with the emphasis on investing in property. However, on the basis that you don't get invited to go on TV every day of the week (and it was fun) and that it was unlikely to be bad publicity, we decided to do it.
The 3 programmes are:
Destination Lunch - ours is shown quite regularly. This was the first one and we were a bit green about the promotional side.
Head to Head - this is the most fluffy of the 3. Really not much use promotionally. It was shown last Thursday and is being shown again tomorrow (Sunday) at 20.30.
Property Pensions - this was the best from our point of view. Not much was said about pensions but we were able to talk at length about the holiday lettings. This is not being shown yet (still being edited, we understand!).
I suspect a lot of people contact them to try and get on the shows - we were invited (via one of the lettings websites) because there are so few Brits who have gone into holiday letting in Germany. But a lot of the people they have on are seriously lacking in personality and I would guess that most LMHers would come across pretty well. So some of you might like to try approaching them.
That's if you can overcome the 'cringe' factor!

Glad to hear you have had some positive reactions to your appearance. We also were asked to join a TV programme, but in the end declined. That was for personal reasons.
Never try to out-stubborn your guests.

That's brave Margaret, but potentially great exposure. Hope you get some bookings from it!

Wow, Margaret. That sounds like really good promotion for you. Potenitally better than free listing sites :o . It will be interesting to know whether you get bookings from the TV coverage.

Absolutely nothing that we can identify so far. Also only a couple of bookings from the national press articles. Nothing from the full page in the Ryanair magazine last month either.
It's great for the ego and fun and guests sometimes mention that they saw us there.
