Has anybody considered this as a payment option?

Looks interesting

Cheaper than Pay Pal but a bit more complicated and less "instant"

Anyone have any negative views?

Last time I looked into this it was only available to US users, if that has changed it looks good, but after a quick look I think a guest would have to create an account, which might put a few folk off.

Edit: Just had another, look fine if you are in the US or UK..........sorry folks no Euros yet.

Ian, I was lead to believe you could only use ot for goods, and not services, so you couldn't use it as a payment option for holiday rentals.

Hi Helene,

I think it's ok for services

http://checkout.google.com/support/sell ... tx=sibling

I thought some of the features listed here...........

https://checkout.google.com/seller/feat ... l=en&gl=GB

would be useful to rental owners

e.g.

Partial funds capture = Deposits, balances and even damage deposits

Refunds = Damage deposit returns

Just a few things for discussion.

Cheers

Ian, I will ask Paul who runs my online booking system, as he said it couldn't be used for holiday rentals yet, but he would be offering it as an option when they did. He said you needed to be selling goods.

Helen, I don't read it like that. We're not running tours, travel clubs or timeshares, or did I miss something?

I hope not, as I've signed up, and just waiting for their bank authorisation thing.

Bit of a disappointment that brass knuckles and body parts are excluded, but there you go.

I've just had word back from Paul that holiday accommodation isn't allowed. As he has been looking at adding this payment option to the booking system, I would have thought he would have up-to-date info. Please let me know if this is incorrect.

I still can't see it in any of their conditions. Maybe ask Google? Can't do it myself, as en route back to Blighty.

payment after the holiday?

Post by olive »

A superficial look at the first few paragraphs throws up:

-"Product" means any digital or physical merchandise, good, or service that is listed for sale ........

which tells us what can be sold
(good news)

and

-Permissible Payment Transactions. .......A Payment Transaction may not be submitted for processing through the Service until Seller has:
(a) shipped or otherwise provided the purchased goods to the Buyer; or
(b) performed the purchased service; or
(c) otherwise completed the purchase transaction as mutually agreed upon by Seller and Buyer.
(bad news)

(b) is out of the question (payment after the holiday) and I wouldn’t want to start negotiating (c) - “completed the purchase transaction as mutually agreed“ - with my potential “Buyers.

Maybe something further on in the LONG text provides a different possibility for holiday lets, but I doubt it. I didn't read further........

Thanks Olive, Paul got back to me with a definite 'no' , and not for the foreseeable future. He is going to contact them again next year.
