Something old, something renewableIt's mentioned in the Domesday Book but this Cornish estate is on a very modern quest — to offer Britain's first carbon neutral holiday cottages

Excellent! We are hoping to convert from oil to wood pellet heating for 2-3 of our houses.

This is quite an intersting subject.

I know our cleaner offers "green cleans" (but I worry about how effective that would be).

We have long life light bulbs where prcatical and ask guests to recycle, but that's about it.

Without wishing to appear cyncical (because I'm not, at least about this) there must be a marketing angle here, but I'm not sure what we can do to establish green credentials in our lodge.

We have spotlights in the ceilings so long life bulbs there are a no no. We have gas central heating and double glazing.

We don't really have room for a battery or different bins and te parks own bins a re 200 yards away.

What is anyone else doing here?

Hubby did laugh cos he said I reckon the water board would say he mustnt do it.[were on a meter]or that he had to pay for the water.........cos really it belongs to them.

But he said he would tell them, to please, stop it falling on our roof then
and blimey has it fell the last couple of days
See!!! every cloud  [yep is full of rain!!] :D

If you are heating a large outdoor swimming pool, then it`s not environmentally friendly, no matter how you heat it.

We don't have too many of those up in Cumbria, do we

Mind you, we could have filled a few up with no problem this year.

We're not on a water meter, but what a fantastic idea for those who are. My sis is appalled at her huge water bills. And an ecofriendly option for those of us who aren't metered too

Hi Helen
It was very simple to do
It started as extra storage for ALL the rainwater weve been getting recently
and the water butts were already near our downstairs toilet.
Its pretty easy to switch back to mains as well when supplies run out[only takes a couple of mins]
Id like to say hes thinking of the environment etc  but were on a water meter, and like your sister, I think he was more interested in having lower water bills.
You actually save twice because if you dont pay to receive it, your not billed for the removing either[sewage...] so a win win situation.
I did laugh and say we could go on Dragons Den with it, and be shouted at
